We've Raised €80,000!!
Yes, that’s how much we have raised so far. It’s a fantastic achievement in only 12 months!! Well done and many thanks to everyone who helped, organized, created, volunteered & donated. We are well on the way to achieving our goal. Let’s keep the momentum going now. The building works are almost complete and the end is in sight. We're almost there. €100,000 here we come!
Bag Packing Dunnes Stores
Dunne stores have very generously given us Friday 23rd December 2011 for our bag packing fundraising day. We will need volunteers on the day to help out. This is a fantastic opportunity as Dunnes should be very busy with Christmas shoppers and we should get that little bit closer to our final target of €100,000. If you are free to help out on the day, please contact us at the mobile number given at the end of this page.
Buy A Brick Campaign
We’ve received a great response to the Buy a Brick campaign. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, receipts will be issued shortly. If you haven’t contributed yet there’s still time to set up a direct debit or make a lump sum donation. Brochures are available from the school.
Croagh Patrick Climb
Photos from our sponsored climb of Croagh Patrick on Saturday 28th May. A fine bright day, but it sure was cold at the summit! If you have photos you would like to add here please email them to knockanean at hotmail.com
CD Recording Session
As part of our fundraising campaign we have recorded a CD of the School Musicians with Special Guests. Knockanean have a long and wonderful musical tradition led by our inspiring music teacher, Joan McNamara.
We are very fortunate that talented and well known musicians such as Martin Hayes, Magnus Maguire, Kevin Crawford, Kate Purcell & Blackie O’Connell have given their music and time to the school to record with the children. And we have very talented parents who donated their services: Monica Kearney, Felim O Coileain, Caroline O'Connor and Murty Ryan. And of course past parent, Matt Purcell put it all together.
The 1st recording took place in the school on Tuesday 7th February and got off to a fantastic start. All our musicians worked so hard and played beautifully. The guest musicians were very impressed with our musicians; Blackie O' Connell (uillean pipes) said he was amazed at the caliber of talent in such a large group of kids - everyone was in tune, played & followed direction perfectly! The CD is available to buy now from the school.
Theres a short preview of the CD on our facebook page - as well as a slideshow created by one of our pupils Sorcha Murphy - so please take a look.
5th Class Creativity
In February 5th class made St.Bridgets crosses and sold them for the building fund raising almost €500 in the process. It was a great fundraising idea and we think you’ll agree they are a beautiful keepsake. A big thank you to Joan and all in 5th class for your hard work!
