** Our very own Mr Sharkey starred in the Riverdance performance on RTE's All Ireland Talent Show on Sunday February 28th. All here at Knockanean NS and especially Mr Sharkeys pupils in 3rd Class, are very proud of our teacher. If you missed the show,take a look here.

** We had a vist from the ESB's Electric Vehicle recently. The visit was organised by our Green Schools Committee so the children could see the use that is made of alternative fuels as opposed to petrol and diesel. ** Well done to 5th and 6th class who held a very successful cake sale raising funds for the Haiti Earthquake Appeal.

** Baby News!! Congratulations to 4th Class teacher Anne O'Neill and her husband Michael on the birth of their baby daughter Andrea. And congratulations also to 1st Class teacher Ms Gavin and her husband Joe on the recent birth of their daughter Siofra.

** We are still collecting old mobile phones so if you got a new one this Christmas, you know where to send your old one!!

** Our Students Council are running a Photography Competition for pupils from 3rd to 6th class. The theme is Winter. Take a look at the entries here.

** The last few Knockanean NS 2010 Calendar are still for sale. Get yours from the school office now.

** A huge thank you to Murphy's Pharmacy at the Roslevan Shopping Centre for hosting an Art Competition for our pupils recently. Murphys Pharmacy also presented the school with a laptop computer which Pat McNamara was delighted to accept on behalf of the school. Take a look at our photos here.

** Measures have been adopted at the school to prevent/reduce the spread of "Swine Flu". Hand sanitizers have been installed and we would encourage all parents to ensure their child is aware of how to prevent the spread of the virus. More information is available at www.swineflu.ie

Credit Union
St Francis Credit Union will operate every Thursday Morning between 9:30am-10am. The main aim is to encourage students to adopt a regular savings habit. Application forms are available to pupils from 2nd - 6th class. More parents are needed to help with the school Credit Union. If you can spare half an hour one thursday morning please contact Anne Marie on 086-3530928 086-3530928.

A very big thank you to Michele Severn for all her hard work in getting the website up and running in early 2008. Micheles children have now moved to secondary school but we are very grateful for all the work she put in to get the website sorted. Thank you Michele!
