School Year 2012/2013
Five a Side Soccer County Champions (the boy’s report!)
On the 23rd of April 2013, the boys won the five a side soccer in Lees Road! We beat Cloughleigh 5-2, with goals from Ben (3) Cullen (1) and Ronan (1). Then we played St Conaire’s and we won 2-1 with great goals from Cullen (1) and Conor (1). Next, we played Corofin and won 2-0 with amazing goals from Ben (1) and Ronan (1). Then we had an unfortunate draw with Sixmilebridge where we should have won. But, we still advanced top of the group. There were two groups of three and we were in a group with Cratloe and Barefield. First we played Barefield and beat them well 6-0 with goals from Ben (2), Evan (1), Conor K (1), Ronan (1) and Cullen (1). Next up was Cratloe, who we beat 4-0 with goals from Ben (1), Ronan (1), Conor (1) and Fionn (our keeper) (1).
We topped our group and got into the final, where we played Newmarket. It was a tight game when Cullen scored just before half time. Then with five minutes to go they got an equaliser which brought the game to extra-time. We were unfortunate because Conor hit the crossbar and Ronan hit the post so the game went to penalties.
We picked Conor, Cullen and Ronan to take our penalties. First Cullen stepped up and scored a brilliant penalty. The pressure was on Fionn, but he stepped up to the task brilliantly saving their first to give us the advantage. Next, Ronan stepped up to score a beautiful penalty to put us 2-1 ahead. They scored their next two to put the pressure all on Conor to win it for us. And of course he slid the ball into the corner with ease to make us Clare champions for the fourth time in a row.
Winners were: Fionn O’Brien, Ronan Lanigan, Cian McDonough, Cullen McCabe, Ben O’Donnell, Conor McDaid, Evan Twomey Conor Kelliher.

Lees Road Soccer
On the 23rd of April, 5th and 6th class went to Lee’s Road for a soccer tournament. Unfortunately, the girls didn’t make it through to the finals, but success for the boys as they won all of their matches. On the 8th of May they will now represent Clare in the Munster final and we will be going to Limerick to support them!!. Let’s hope they win.
It was a great day but we all got sunburnt!

On the 8th of May we travelled to Limerick to play in the finals of Munster. In our first match we played Kerry and we lost 6-0. In our next match we beat Tipperary in a great match that ended 4-1. We reached the semi-final against Cork. At the end of a thrilling game we lost 3-2. We were disappointed but it was a great day!
