A Tribute to Mrs. Mac

dscf1192

On Friday October 28th, the whole school gathered together to pay tribute to Mrs. Mac on the occasion of her retirement.  After 35 years teaching in Knockanean, Joan received many glowing tributes and good wishes as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.  Her immense contribution to the school was acknowledged, her dedication to teaching, looking after the educational needs of the children and her generosity in sharing her creative and musical talents.  She voluntarily ran a music club after school, coached children to perform in concerts in cathedrals, halls and airports and led her musicians to the final of the “Walton’s Music for Schools” competition on three occasions winning bronze, silver and the gold medal in 2015. Since her decision to retire was announced, many happy memories have been shared and there has been a huge outpouring of positivity in relation to all she has done for a generation of pupils and their families.  She will be missed by the whole school community.  Mile buíochas to Joan for the years of dedicated and selfless service she has given our school.  We wish her and Pat every blessing for a long, happy and healthy retirement.  Read more about the ceremony and view some photos here.
