Pink Ribbon Day 2020:

On February 28th we had our annual Pink Ribbon Day in the school as a fundraiser for Breast Cancer. It was the 10th and final year of Pink Ribbon Day so there was a huge effort made by 6th class to organize a day full of fun and games as well as raising money for a great cause. Read more here

Knockanean a-buzz following success at the Mini Scientist Grand Final

There is a buzz of excitement around the school following the girl’s success at the recently held Mini Scientist Final.  We were all very proud when they were named as runners-up in the competition with their project Bee Ware.  Congratulations girls!   Read more about a great achievement here.

Quiz Success

Well done to both our school teams who represented us so well in the recently held Credit Union Schools  quiz.   Congratulations to our U-11  team who came first place and will go on to represent the school in the Regional Final in Limerick at the end of February.  Read more here.

Christmas Activities

Our Carol Singers have been busy entertaining the crowds at local shops and nursing homes.  Sixth Class enjoyed a day out at ‘Limerick on Ice’.  The Junior classes attended plays in Glór.  Santa took some time out from his busy schedule to visit the boys and girls in Knockanean.  Read more and see some photos here.

Mini Scientists

Congratulations to Third Class pupils Ailbhe, Siofra, Aoife and Andrea who were successful in the Intel Mini Scientist Regional Finals held recently in Shannon.  We wish them the best of luck as they go on to represent the school in the National Final in Maynooth in January with their project ‘Bee Ware’.  Well done girls! Is Homework a Waste of time?

Members of Fifth class were recently given the task to propose this motion in the Primary School’s Debating Competition. Their hard work and preparation paid off and we wish them continued success in the debating competition going forward.  Read more here.

Limerick Festival of Science

As part of the Limerick Festival of Science, Fifth Class recently travelled to the Uniersity of Limerick to attend a talk entitled ‘How to Build an Ironman Suit’ given by a superhero scientist! Read more here.

Intel Mini Scientist Competition

Well done to all the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Class pupils who recently participated in the Intel Mini Scientist Competition.  We all enjoyed the exhibition in the school and commend their hard work.
