ECubers Event

On Thursday June 23rd, Fifth Class students travelled to the University of Limerick to take part in an ECubers event.

ECubers is an initiative developed by the engineering company, SL Controls, to foster the technical skills required for a career in engineering.

Building the future of engineers in Ireland with LEGO® SL Controls, one of Ireland’s leading Equipment Systems Engineering firms launched a new programme called ‘ECubers™’ at University of Limerick to encourage more students, particularly young women, to study and pursue careers in engineering. Fr. Pat Nugent visits Knockanean

Marion Keane Basketball Tournament

Notre Dame Folk Choir

20160524_213602On Tuesday May 24th, the University of Notre Dame Choir from the U.S. performed a concert in the Cathedral.  It was an uplifting and joyous evening of music and song.  The children of knockanean were honoured to make a guest appearance with the choir.  Read more here.

Junior Entrepreneur Showcase

The Children of 1916 – Animation

As part of the ‘Artist in School’ scheme, Fifth and Sixth Class children, under the guidance of Ana Colomer, composed an animation video entitled ‘The Children of 1916’.  Well done to all involved.  Take a look at it here.

Proclamation Day

Tuesday March 15th, 2016 was Proclamation day, when our school commerated and reflected upon the events of 100 years ago.    We celebrated with music and drama and Sixth Class composed an inspiring new proclamation for 2016 which was read aloud on the day.  The ceremony culminated with the raising of the Irish flag.  There was much excitement when singer-songwriter Declan O’ Rourke visited the school on Wednesday March 16th and performed his song ‘The Children of ’16’.   View some photos and read more about our Easter Rising commemorations here.
