Santa Visit

On Monday, December 21st, we welcomed a special visitor to Knockanean.  Mr. Claus took time out from his busy schedule to give treats to the boys and girls in Knockanean.  See some photos here.

Crochet Club

On Sunday, December 20th, some members of the crochet club presented their gift of baby hats to the nurses at the Maternity Hospital in Limerick.  A big thank you to all the children, parents and grandparents who crocheted the beautiful  baby hats and a big thank you also to Amy for coordinating the event.  More photos here.

The crochet club have been very busy since September crocheting hats for the babies in the Neonatal Unit at the Maternity Hospital in Limerick.  Click here to take a look at their fabulous work.

Fifth’s Fun Friday

On Friday December 11th, Fifth Class together with their teacher, organised a fun day fundraiser for the other classes to attend.  It certainly was a fun filled Friday!  Read more and see some photos here.

Intel Mini Scientist Regional Final

On December 8th,  Sam, Conor and Thomas represented the school in the regional finals in Intel in Shannon with their project ‘Germ Shield’.  Read more  here.

Artist Philip Morrison

New Beginnings

New beginnings for Mrs. Colleran as she embarks on her retirement after many happy years in Knockanean.  The occasion was marked in the school at a special ceremony.    Congratulations Colette and wishing you the best in this next phase of your life.   Read more about a special day in Knockanean and see some photos here.

Intel Mini Scientist

Well done to the pupils of Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Class who all participated in the recent Intel Mini-Scientist Competition.  They put a great effort into their projects and put on a super exhibition for parents, teachers and the younger pupils.  The judges were very impressed by their efforts.  Well done to  Caitríona  Warner, Elin Blake and Caitlín Hogan for achieving second place with their project ‘The Water Wheel’.   Congratulations to Sam Prendeville, Thomas Barry and Conor Hurley who will go on to represent the school in the regional finals in Intel Shannon on December 9th with their project ‘Germ Shield’.  Read more and view some photos here.

National Flag Presentation

On Friday, October 16th, three members of the Irish Defence Forces, including past pupil, Corporal Brian Harding, visited the school to present us with the Tricolour and a copy of the  Proclamation of the Irish Republic.  This is part of state initiatives to mark the centenary of the 1916 rising next year.  Read more about a wonderful school occasion and view photos here.
